Animal rescue cats and dogs hoping to be adopted

Dec 26, 2023Dec 26, 2023

THE team at a North Wales animal rescue centre is looking for new homes for their furry residents.

North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) have cats, dogs and some smaller animals, all hoping to find their forever home.

The staff and volunteers at the Trelogan-based charity, in Flintshire, know the animals as individuals, and therefore know what kind of home they are more likely to thrive in.

Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or horse, staff are on hand to advise on the character and suitability of each.

They also make sure potential new owners are aware of the ongoing costs of a pet, including food and vet bills, which can often be for unexpected treatment.

But thankfully there are plenty of responsible, loving people and families looking to give an animal a loving new home.

And there are always animals of all types, ages and needs that will be the perfect match.

Here we meet just some of those at NCAR looking for a new home...

• For more details, please visit ncar.org.uk or if you would like to support the charity without adopting, you can visit their cafe, open from 10.30am to 3.30pm. They also accept donations at the centre between 10am and 4pm.

You can also help by fundraising, sponsoring a kennel or supporting one of the NCAR charity shops in the region.

Iris waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Iris is a sweet five-year-old girl who came to the rescue via another rescue. She originally came from Cyprus, arriving in the UK in September of 2022, and has been in kennels since. She is a big girl who can be very nervous of people at times. She will need a calm and gentle home where she can learn to trust and to be confident in new situations. We were told by the previous rescue that she is dog reactive, however, initial tests here show that although she does show some reactivity, with correct handling and introductions, this can be easily overcome. She could potentially live with older teenagers who are calm. Iris is a really lovely girl who will thrive in the right home.

Binx waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Binx is a gorgeous two-year-old boy who came into our care after his owner was having to move and couldn't take him along. He is very friendly, affectionate and loves attention and playing with toys. He has been kept as a housecat up to now so is looking for a home where he is kept indoors only as he will have no road sense. He hasn't been around children before, so is looking for a home with sensible older teenagers.

Honey waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Three-year-old Honey is a feisty girl who was returned to the rescue for showing guarding behaviours in the home. She needs a home with strict boundaries where the behaviour plan set out by the behaviour team will be enforced. She is ok with other dogs when out and about, however, due to the guarding issues in the home we think she is going to be better suited as an only dog. Due to this issues shown in the home, we will be requesting anyone interested in Honey to come up to the rescue several times to really build a bond before taking home, and to ensure all behaviour advice is given, taken on board and enforced in the handling before taking home. Honey is a staff favourite and we know in the right home, she will make someone a fabulous little sidekick.

Tyson waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Tyson is a lovely, confident one-year-old lad who was signed over to us due to his owners ill health. He is looking for a home with sensible children 12+. He has been kept as a house cat up to now but can be introduced to the outdoors if he lived in a quiet area. When he first goes to his new home Tyson will ideally need to be kept in one room with his litter tray before having free roam of the house so he can form good habits from the start. Overall he is a lovely lad who will make an amazing companion.

Teddy waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Teddy is a stunning nine-month-old boy who was signed over due to being too excitable. He is really friendly and greets everyone like they are a long lost friend! Teddy is a very high energy dog who will require lots of physical exercise and mental stimulation in order to meet his needs - he would be ideal to be trained in dog sports such as cani-cross, agility or flyball. Teddy gets on well with other dogs and loves to play, we definitely feel he could be homed with a compatible dog. Due to him being boisterous at times, we feel he would be best suited to a home with older sensible children who can get involved with his training. He will definitely appeal to people who are fans of the breed or are after an energetic dog!

Aslan waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Aslan is a lovely boy who came into our care with his mum and siblings when he was a few days old, and he is now ready to find a new home. He needs owners who have time to continue his socialisation and spend lots of time with him as he will crave a lot of company once he leaves his mum and siblings. He can be rehomed with sensible children 5+, other compatible cats and even a dog if slow and sensible introductions can be done. Aslan can either be rehomed on his own or with one of his siblings.
