PS5 owners are just realizing why the controller has a mysterious tiny hole on the back

TAKE a look at the back of your PlayStation 5 controller – notice anything strange?

There's a mysterious hole just to the right of the word Sony.

It's not accident that your PS5 DualSense joypad has a hole in it.

In fact, this hole serves a very useful purpose that is easy to miss.

You could play your PS5 for years without ever noticing it, never mind realizing what it does.

It turns out that this hole is actually for resetting your PlayStation DualSense joypad.

The hole works in a similar way to the SIM tray on many smartphones, including your iPhone.

Except rather than opening a compartment on the DualSense, you'll be resetting your controller instead.

You simply need to find a small tool to prod into the hole.

A SIM tray tool from your iPhone box will work fine.

But the hole-end of a sewing needle, the back of an earring, or the tip of a hairclip will all work fine.

To reset the DualSense, turn off your PS5 completely.

Now use a small tool to push the button that's inside the hole.

You'll want to hold it down for between three and five seconds, according to Sony.

Now connect the controller to your PS5 again using the USB cable that came with your console.

Then press the PS button on the joypad.

This should reconnect your DualSense after the reset.

But why would you even want to reset your DualSense? Well there are a few reasons.

For a start, it's a great way to quickly resolve any problems with the controller.

If the joypad is acting up, a full reset can get it back in working order.

You might also want to reset the DualSense controller if you're giving it away to a friend or family member.

Similarly, it's a good idea to reset it if you're selling it (alone or with the PS5).
